About the Journal

Chettinad Health City Medical Journal (CHCMJ) is an official publication of Chettinad Academy of Research And Education. It is a peer reviewed, open access journal published quarterly (January to March, April to June, July to September and October to December) in two formats; printed and online (pISSN: 2277-8845; eISSN: 2278-2044). The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.

Scope of the Journal

The main aim of this journal is to publish novel and interesting observations and advanced scientific knowledge in all the branches of medicine and allied sciences. CHCMJ provides an international and interdisciplinary forum for the dissemination of peer-reviewed review articles, original articles, case reports, short communication, letters to the editor, and book reviews in the field of all branches of medical sciences. The advisory board and editorial board of CHCMJ include well known eminent scientists from India and abroad in all the branches of medicine to produce a high-quality scientific journal and impact on researchers and practitioners.

This journal was started by Chettinad Academy of Research And Education in 2012. ADR Publications has become its official publisher in 2022. The issues published from 2012 to 2021 can be accessed at https://chcmj.ac.in/archive

Authorship Policies

The CHCMJ, expect authors to follow recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for the authorship of a paper.

Those who had substantially contributed to the conception or design of the research work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work, drafting the work or revising, and in agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work are eligible for the authorship. The corresponding author of a research manuscript is responsible for communication with the journal, manuscript submission, authorship criteria of all authors, disclosing any potential conflicts of interest, revision of the manuscript, reviewing the proofs and approving the final version of the manuscript before publication.

Acknowledgements: The acknowledgement section may be used to thank anyone who contributed significantly to the work but is not eligible for authorship including source of funding. This section should not be used to mention anonymous referees or editors, superfluous words, or effusive praise in the acknowledgements.

Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

The fundamental principles of research ethics require maximising potential benefits and minimising potential harm. The CHCMJ is committed to uphold the highest ethical conduct of research which is guided by the following guidelines:


Manuscript deposition / Archiving

Article published in the CHCMJ are deposited on the PKP Preservation Network system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries, allowing those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

Author’s self-archiving / Repository policy

Following the Journal's Open Access Policy, authors retain the copyright of their published articles with no embargo period.

Below are the details of our policy regarding the different versions of the paper:

  • Submitted Version: Authors are permitted to deposit the submitted version of their manuscript in any institutional or other repository of their choice.
  • Accepted Version (Author Accepted Manuscript): Authors can deposit the accepted version of their manuscript, also known as the Author Accepted Manuscript, in any institutional or other repository of their choice.
  • Published Version (Version of Record): Authors are allowed to deposit the published version, or Version of Record, in any institutional or other repository of their choice.

The VOR is the final, peer-reviewed, accepted, copyedited, and formatted version of an article, assigned a DOI and published online in the journal website, accompanied by a printable PDF.

The VOR may be:

  • Placed on the author’s institutional repository or archive, provided a link using the DOI is included
  • Posted on the author's personal website, provided a link using the DOI is included
  • Presented at a meeting or conference
  • Shared for teaching purposes or within a research group

Once self-archived, individual users may view, print, download, and copy self-archived articles for non-commercial/non-promotional research and private study purposes.

Average time required for submission to publication

On average 16 weeks are required for manuscript submission to article publication. However, the period from submission to publication varies substantially and is determined by the response of the reviewer and or the author.
